Many who should take Adderal, don'tPosted by rayweikal in Extra Credit |

Last week, I wrote that my piece on Adderal abuse by high school students would run in the Feb. 11 edition of the Sun Tribune. We've decided to delay that until Feb. 18 in order to expand our coverage and include more information about the medical perspective on this issue.
There are many ironies that come with this story, which is really about students using an ADHD drug to help deal with the social, academic and extra-curricular pressures of high school.
Not the least of these ironies is the fact that Adderal is widely available in schools because many of the students who have a prescription don't want to take it, according to former Park Hill High School student Chris Cline.
Cline was one of three young men who opted to drop out of school last fall rather than face expulsion after being caught using Adderal without a prescription.
I'd like to talk to a high school student who has a prescription for Adderal. If you know of someone willing to share their experiences, please put them in contact with me at 389-6637 or rayweikal@npgco.com.
