Ok, I wrote that headline to get your attention.
Those who ascribe to the cliché that "those who can't do, teach," might want to visit the Gladstone Community Center.
For the next several weeks, the center is hosting a exhibition of work by art teachers from North Kansas City Schools.
An opening reception was held last night, Tuesday, Feb. 2, at the center.
A couple hundred people were on hand to admire a wide variety of pieces produced by 35 of the district's 44 art teachers.
The primary goal of the exhibition is to convey the fact the people who teach our children about great art really do know what they're doing and how to do it, according to district Visual Art Coordinator Mark Anderson.
"I think people don't realize that these are artists as well as teachers," Anderson said. "That really was the genesis."
The exhibition will get some statewide attention when Missouri Art Education Association members pay a visit during their annual conference Friday, March 5, in Kansas City.
The public can enjoy the show free of charge during the center's normal hours, 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday; 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday; and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday.
For more information, pick up the Feb. 11 edition of the Sun Tribune.
Oh, and I think Ralph Lauren's Olympic uniforms are quite fetching.
